Fishing for MD Honored to Participate in MDA New Brand Launch

MDA New Brand launch

During the day-long event, MDA revealed its new logo, website, and their “Live Unlimited” campaign. The brand relaunch became a priority after MDA realized that the majority of millenials were not familiar with the organization and the work they do to fight muscle disease. While the brand historically highlighted the plight of families affected by muscle disease, the new brand direction highlights the courage of children and adults living with muscle disease, changing the narrative to one of inspiration and support rather than empathy.

Increased commitment to finding a cure for muscle disease

In addition to unveiling their new brand identity, MDA also revealed their increased commitment to fighting muscle disease. Over the next 5 years, they have pledged to double the amount of funds spent on clinical trials and drug development, as well as increase their support to 150,000 people annually and send 20,000 children to their free weeklong MDA summer camp.

National Goodwill Ambassador named

As part of their emphasis on highlighting inspirational stories, MDA named Joe Akmakjian as their National Goodwill Ambassador. At 15 months old, Mr. Akmakjian was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy and was not expected to live past 12 years old. At 24, he has already doubled his life expectancy and is committed to reaching out to younger adults to expand the base of support for MDA and also champion the need for increased policies that support young people living with disabilities.
